Washington – With Iraqis electing their first democratic four-year government, attention is shifting to what the country’s long-term political landscape might look like. Much attention has been focused on defeating or placating Iraq’s mainly Sunni Muslim insurgency. But there is growing concern about the role of some segments of Iraq’s Shiite Muslim majority, which is expected to hold power in the new government – segments that have already shown their willingness to use violence to get what they want.

Blasts heard near Interior Ministry in Baghdad16/12/2005
BAGHDAD,(Reuters) – A series of loud explosions which could have been mortar rounds was heard in central Baghdad on Friday near the heavily fortified Green Zone.

Police said the blasts had occurred near the Interior Ministry but could not say if there had been any casualties.

At least five explosions were heard the day after Iraqis voted in largely peaceful elections for their first full-term parliament since the fall of Saddam Hussein in 2003.

RAMALLAH (Reuters) – Hamas extended local election gains from the fractured ruling Fatah party on Friday and Israel said that if the Islamic militants won Palestinian political dominance it would end any hope for peacemaking.

Hamas, committed to destroying Israel, appeared to profit from division in Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas’s Fatah movement and gained an important boost ahead of a January parliamentary election from the latest West Bank polls.

    Why should we prevent the Mullah’s interference in Iraq?

    Let us talk again about the oil tanker that was filled with forged ballots and was seized by Iraqi guards while it was crossing the boarder from Iran into Iraq. The Iraqi boarder guards say that the ballots were partly completed and apparently the truck driver told the guards that he know of at least three other trucks that had crossed from Iran.

    There is no doubt that this is only the tip of the iceberg. If that one truck driver knew about three other trucks, you can imagine the actual number. Who really knows how many of these fake ballots actually made it to the polls?

    We should understand that Iran’s meddling has not been limited to filling fake ballot boxes but the Mullahs for some time have been spending millions of dollars to bribe, blackmail and even to kill candidates.

    The aims of these Mafia style activities are to paralyze independent parties and candidates so that they give up the election to Tehran supported candidates.

    The US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice called on international community Tuesday to help find a way to stop Tehran from creating problems for its neighbor.

    But how can you stop the Mullahs in Tehran? They see their own death in democratization process of Iraq.

    So let me emphasize here that Iran will absolutely not give up Iraq. They are even willing to go to war with the US over it and if there is going to be a war, Mullah’s prefer to fight it in Iraq rather than in Iran.

    And maybe that is what is going on in Iraq: “a war.”

    For the rest of us, we should use every means in our power to slash Iran’s hands off from Iraq. Even further, let me say this, the danger of Iran controlling Iraq is far greater than its nuclear and atomic danger.

    On the initiative of friends of humanity and other organizations, a rally was held in front of Netherlands parliament on Thursday 15th.Dec.2005, to protest against Iranian president remarks regarding terrorist activities and export of fundamentalism into Iraq.

    The speakers objected to extensive interference of Mullah’s in Iraq, as well as condemning recent speeches of Ahmadinejad the Iranian President. Participants also called for an end to the policy of appeasement with the Mullah’s regime.

    CAIRO – Israel is a "cancer" in the Middle East and its peace deal with Egypt should be submitted to a referendum, the leader of Egypt’s Muslim Brothers said in an interview published Thursday.

    "I declared that we will not recognize Israel which is an alien entity in the region. And we expect the demise of this cancer soon…," Mohammed Mehdi Akef told the state-owned English language Ahram Weekly.

    Egypt signed a peace agreement with Israel in 1979, becoming the first Arab country to establish diplomatic ties with the Jewish state.

    Hamas says will step up attacks if Israel hits IranTEHRAN,(Reuters) – Palestinian militant group Hamas will step up its attacks on Israeli targets if the Jewish state attacks its key ally in the region, Iran, Hamas chief-in-exile Khaled Meshaal said on Thursday.

    "If Israel attacks Iran then Hamas will widen and increase its confrontation of Israelis inside Palestine," Meshaal told reporters in Tehran, where he has held three days of talks with top political and security officials.

    Supporters of Friends Of Humanity joined a rally in Dallas on Saturday to protest against mullahs’ meddling in Iraq’s internal affairs.

    They condemned clerical regime’s plans to influence elections in Iraq as part of its attempt to establish another Islamic fundamentalist regime in that country.

    Demonstrators also called upon Iraqi government to investigate the Iranian regime’s involvement in prison abuse in Iraqi’s interior ministry prisons.

    As voters in Iraq finish a day of polling in a relatively calm day, tensions in the Middle East keep rising in other parts.

    After remarks from Iran’s Ahmadinejad regarding Israel created an upheaval in the global community, now the head of Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt has entered the scene with some similar remarks.

    Ahmadinejad also hosted the Hamas leader in Tehran a few days ago when both sides made remarks about the US and Israel.

    Moral support from the state sponsor of terrorism (read Iran) has created the right atmosphere for subdued fundamentalists from across the Middle East to step up their activities and media presence.

    The peace process is one of the most sensitive issues that fundamentalists can target in the Middle East in order to create instability.

    All these facts should ring the bell for the international community that something dangerous is cooking there in the Middle East.

    Bombs found near Iranian border

    Iraqi border guards have discovered another cache of explosives aimed at killing British soldiers.

    The weapons were discovered around 12 miles from the Iranian frontier, close to the border between Basra and Maysan provinces in British-controlled southern Iraq.

    Captain Ranith De Silva, of the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards battlegroup at Amara in Maysan province, said the seizure happened last month, but details have only now been revealed.
