BAGHDAD, Iraq, Dec. 13 – Less than two days before nationwide elections, the Iraqi border police seized a tanker on Tuesday that had just crossed from Iran filled with thousands of forged ballots, an official at the Interior Ministry said.
The tanker was seized in the evening by agents with the American-trained border protection force at the Iraqi town of Badra, after crossing at Munthirya on the Iraqi border, the official said. According to the Iraqi official, the border police found several thousand partly completed ballots inside.

On Thursday 15th December, over 15 million Iraqis will go to the polls to vote for their favorite candidates. The calm in streets today shows that everyone wants the election to be successful. After three years of war and violence, Iraq is going to have a new parliament. Monday many Iraqi women took to the streets of Iraq to warn Iran not to interfere in their elections. Although Iran has been asked many times not to interfere, this country continues to push for its own list of candidates. That is besides preparing false ballots and using violence to create chaos. Women from Diyala province called for active participation of all Iraqis in upcoming elections on December 15 in a bid to combat Islamic fundamentalist threats from Iran. In their gathering n Monday, women activitsts called on the international community to help prevent Iranian regimes’ plans to influence the result of the elections on Thursday. Speakers called on their compatriots to vote for candidates who are proven true nationalists and opposed to fundamentalism. One of the activists warned that the Iranian regime and its proxies do not want women to take part in the elections and spoke of torture centers set up by the agents of the regime to suppress anti- fundamentalist elements and movements.

The Press Association Wed 14 Dec 2005 Iraqi border guards have discovered another cache of explosives aimed at killing British soldiers. The weapons were discovered around 12 miles from the Iranian frontier, close to the border between Basra and Maysan provinces in British-controlled southern Iraq. Captain Ranith De Silva, of the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards battlegroup at Amara in Maysan province, said the seizure happened last month, but details have only now been revealed.

Stopfundamentalism.comThe state-run daily Hamshahri wrote on December 11, that the clerical regime’s judiciary had condemned a woman identified only as Masoumeh and resident of Varamin (near Tehran) to death by stoning. This is the second person sentenced to death by stoning in the past two months. More than 110 persons have been hanged or sentenced to death since Mahmoud Ahmadinejad took office. Several victims were under 18 years of age at the time of the alleged offence.
