Newt Gingrich in Paris, Supports Regime Change in Iran

Stop Fundamentalism/PRNewsWire, Monday 25, 2012 – Subsequent to the gathering of 100,000 Iranians in Paris yesterday, Mr. Newt Gingrich, former Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, spoke before a large number of supporters of the Iranian Resistance in Paris on Sunday, June 24, 2012.

Mr. Gingrich, who was a candidate for the U.S. Presidential election during the Republican Party primaries, was invited by the Organizing Committee of the Paris gathering.

“The pressing issue regarding Iran is neither confronting the regime’s nuclear program issue nor its terrorism. The main issue is to change this regime. So long as this regime is in power, none of those issues will be resolved,” the former House Speaker said.

Addressing the Iranians, Speaker Gingrich added, you, your movement and your leadership, President-elect Maryam Rajavi, have the capacity to bring about change in Iran and to establish democracy in that country.

“The U.S. has responsibility to protect the residents of Ashraf and Liberty since they handed over their weapons to the U.S. forces and in return the U.S. officially guaranteed their protection,” Mr. Gingrich emphasized.

A day earlier, during the largest-ever assembly of Iranians abroad in the past three decades, hundreds of dignitaries from the U.S., Europe, and the Arab world reiterated the need to protect  Ashraf and Liberty residents and to support the Iranian Resistance.
