Iraqi debt to be reduced by $10 bln soon – Kudrin

Interfax, July 17 – Iraqi debt is to be reduced by $10 billion within the framework of debt relief for the world’s poorest countries, Finance Minster Alexei Kudrin said at a news conference on Sunday in St. Petersburg.

Russia has written off almost $40 billion of Iraqi debt from 1997 to 2006, Kudrin said.

Debt relief for Iraq and other countries is "passive participation in donor programs," he said.

Russian investments in other donor programs exceed $150 billion, the Russian finance minister said
