Stop Fundamentalism, 9 September 2011 – The Oscar winning filmmaker Oliver Stone has been making some headlines in an odd place far away from Hollywood. Tehran that is and he is planning to make a move about, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Iran’s not so popular president.

Iranian Mehr News Agency reported this week that Sean Stone, the son of director Oliver Stone is currently in Tehran to make preparations for the filming.  He was supposed to have a press conference in Tehran on Wednesday but the conference was later canceled without any explanation.

It is said that Sean will be evaluating different filming locations for suitable spots in Iran before his father will join him to proceed.  Oliver Stone, Sean’s father is expected to join him in a few weeks.

A number of Iranian investors are apparently interested to put up the money for a movie made by the father and son but the actual amount is not disclosed yet.

Stone had apparently requested a travel visa to Iran to discuss making of a movie about Ahmadinejad back in 2007 but was rejected by Iranian president’s media advisor, said the news agency.

The movie is planned to be a documentary but no specifics have been revealed yet.

Ahmadinejad is said to love being on the big screen.  He has shown to have wild imaginations.  He has been caught on camera telling people stories about himself walking with a halo on top of his head and feeling that the room lights up when he speaks.

Whether the Iranian film investors and Ahmadinejad’s halo and his obnoxious character could win the Stone family another Oscar will remain to be seen.
