Prof. Alejo Vidal Quadras, who served as the Vice President of the European Parliament from 1999 to 2014 and currently presides over the In Search of Justice Committee, delivered a compelling speech on August 21.This took place at a conference held at the headquarters of the National Council of Resistance of Iran.

Prof. Quadras pulled no punches in his address, spotlighting the actions of the Iranian regime beyond the concealed 1988 massacre. He emphasized, “However, it is important to note that the regime’s actions extend beyond the massacre of the PMOI members and supporters or concealing their graves and demolishing prisons.”

His words also drew attention to the regime’s extensive demonization campaign against the People’s Mojahedin of Iran (PMOI/MEK). “The regime recognizes the PMOI as its main opponent and a significant threat to its existence,” Quadras pointed out, emphasizing the critical role of Mrs. Rajavi in advocating for a democratic and tolerant version of Islam.

Delving into the dynamics between the Iranian Resistance and the three branches of power in democratic nations, he presented an argument about the stark differences in their interactions. “The courts of justice in the Western countries that are neutral and objective, always rule in favor of the PMOI,” he stated, citing instances such as the British court describing the listing of the PMOI on the blacklist as “perverse.”

However, he lamented the disparity when addressing the executive branch of governments. He highlighted the various tactics the Iranian regime employs, from organizing terrorist action and taking hostages to leveraging economic interests and bribing officials. Prof. Quadras elucidated, “They bribe politicians. They bribe journalists. They bribe government officers. I have seen this in the European Parliament.”

He urged world leaders to reevaluate their trust in a regime known for its deceit and manipulation. “Ignoring all of these actions can blind world leaders. It can blind them to the truth in Iran,” he warned.

Reflecting on the recent demolition of Gohardasht prison in Karaj, Prof. Quadras interpreted it as a broader indication of the Iranian people’s persistent demand for truth regarding the 1988 massacre and injustices against the PMOI.

In conclusion, Prof. Quadras emphasized the significant responsibility that rests on human rights organizations. He called for united action, stating, “Remaining silent in the face of such crimes is tantamount to condoning them and bringing disgrace upon Europe and humanity as a whole.”

He signed off with an inspiring quote from Mrs. Rajavi, “As you said once, Mrs. President, we must and we can.”
