Stop Fundamentalism, 12 May, 2011 – AFP reported Thursday that French prosecutors dismissed a long-standing terror charge against 24 members of the main Iranian opposition movement Mujahedin-e Khalq (MEK) and the NCRI, both based near Paris, France.
French police raided the offices of the National Council of Resistance of Iran 8 years ago arresting 168 people on the charges of terrorism. Among those arrested were many top ranking officials of the Iranian Resistance including the President-elect Maryam Rajavi. All those arrested were later released.
The raid flared international protests by Iranian exiles in Europe and the United States calling for Mrs. Rajavi’s immediate release. Two women died due to self emulation during protests.
Iranian media frantically reported the dismissal of the terror charges on MEK as a conspiracy by the west against the Islamic Republic.
