Stop Fundamentalism – HRA news agency reported today that a Kurdish prisoner in Iran has been hanged on the charges of Moharebe (waging war on God).
The prisoner, Aziz Khackzad, 29, was born in Salmas, Iran. He was arrested three years ago and was accused by the Iranian authorities of collaborating with dissident groups.
HRA says that he was staying in Kerman’s central prison and was hanged without advance notice.
Reports indicated that his family was notified about his execution this morning, but government sources are yet to announce his execution publicly, says HRA.
Prison sources said that he was suddenly removed from the public ward in Kerman prison last night and was taken to a solitary cell before he was executed this morning.
HRA says that he had received a 5-year sentence in prison to be spent in exile away from his hometown Salmas, in Kerman prison, according to his lawyer and family. The news of his unannounced execution came in as a surprise to everyone.
The Human Rights Activists for Democracy in Iran execution condemned the hanging of Azis Khackzad as crime against humanity and called on the United Nations Commissioner for Human Rights to step in to end the wave of executions in Iran.
HRADI also warned about imminent execution of another 4 prisoners in Kerman central prison. The prisoners have already been transferred to solitary prisons to prepare for the hanging.
Iran has executed over 490 prisoners so far this year according to the last figures published by Iranian human rights groups and dissidents.
