Iran: Rouhani Has Provided the Maximum Financial Support for the IRGC

In continuation of the internal conflict between Iranian regime’s various bands over choosing Hassan Rouhani’s upcoming Cabinet members, and the Revolutionary Guards pressure to have several ministers into the cabinet, the head of the Parliament’s Planning and Budget Commission revealed that the 11th government (Rouhani’s previous cabinet) was entirely on the path of the IRGC and Khamenei and has had the most financial support for the IRGC.

In an interview with the state-run ISNA news agency on July 24, 2017, Gholamreza Tajgardoon said: “The 11th government has had the most support for the defense sections compared with previous governments… The government has had effective assistance in the field of defense and especially to the IRGC … And the contracting issues between the government and the IRGC have also been resolved.”

He admitted the full commitment of Rouhani’s government to assist and financial support for the IRGC and said: “In the years that I worked with the government and the defense complex, at least in the area of executive affairs and provision of resources, the government had no concern for the defense sector and especially the IRGC in the field of operations and resistance … Financial support by the government towards the whole defense sector, and especially the IRGC, has always been there, and the budget figures show this….”

He added: “During the four years I worked with the 11th government in the budget setting, I saw that the government fully cooperated with the strengthening the defense base, while there were some resistances to increase credit in other areas due to resource constraints, but in the area of defense, the government did not show the slightest resistance.”

He revealed the role of the Rouhani’s administration in the export of terrorism under the title “Succeeding Abroad,” and said “the great successes and resistances abroad are the result of these domestic congregations …”
