Arab League Secretary General Visit to Baghdad

Stop Fundamentalism – Arab League Secretary General Nabil el-Araby, entered Baghdad today in an official visit. He will be discussing Arab world developments and recent issues in the region with Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki and Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari.  Syria will specially be a main subject of discussions, say Arabic news agencies.

It was said that Iraq will be hosting the Arab Summit, coming up next March 2012.

This is the first time el-Araby visit Baghdad since he became the Secretary General of Arab League.

Some of el-Araby’s preplanned meetings have been canceled due to security issues in Baghdad.  Two missiles hit Khazra section this morning.  There have been no immediate reports of casualties and damages of the incident.

Iraq said today that the government of Iraq has agreed to be in contact with Syria and convince this country to accept representatives of Arab observers to obtain first-hand information about the crisis in this country.
