Iran stands firm on uranium enrichment

iran nuclear stand offTEHRAN, June 25, 2006 (AFP) – Iran repeated on Sunday that it will not suspend uranium enrichment as a precondition for talks on its disputed nuclear program, state television reported.

"The suspension of enrichment is one step backward. We think Europe should negotiate without preconditions… which only cloud the negotiating atmosphere," foreign ministry spokesman Hamid Reza Asefi told reporters.

"Instead of setting preconditions that are both unreasonable and baseless, we should negotiate," he added.

On June 6 Iran was presented with an international proposal promising incentives and multilateral talks if it agrees to temporarily halt uranium enrichment activities — at the heart of fears the hardline regime could develop nuclear weapons.

Iran smuggles Iraq oil

iran iraq borderStop Fundamentalism – UPI reported Thursday that the Iraqi Oil Minister Husayn Al-Shahrastani has accused Iran of helping with oil smuggling.

"We blame the Iranian coastguard for allowing Iraqi smuggling boats to reach Iranian waters. Not only that. In some cases, these boats get protection from the Iranian coastguard," he said.

"We have other problems, including smuggling and exploiting shared wells, with most neighboring countries. Our corruption challenges are mainly domestic; they can be found not only within the Oil Ministry but within local markets as well. Therefore, I call on the Iraqis (involved in oil corruption) not to deprive the poor of their right to decent living. Some people, for example, buy gasoline at 250 dinars per liter and sell it back to those who badly need this product at 800-1,000 dinars!"

Linked with the widespread oil smuggling, the oil minister said it is the production surplus that affects the profitability of his country’s oil industry.

Iran will never suspend nuclear program

Stop Fundamentalism – Reuters reported that Iran has no intention to suspend its nuclear program not even as an outcome of any possible future talks, Iran’s ambassay in Vienna announced Friday.

The Iranian Embassy in Vienna said Tehran’s deputy nuclear negotiator had been misquoted in a German translation of a speech he gave on Thursday that raised the possibility of Iran stopping uranium enrichment as a result of negotiations.

The Death or Suicide Choice for Iran

Iran NuclearNima Sharif
After Iran’s nuclear file came out of the hands of the International Atomic Energy agency, and was referred to the United Nations Security Council, buying time in bits and pieces, seems to be Iran’s main objective in any interaction with the international community as any little bit of time is spent well on the race to develop nuclear weapons.

As it pertains to regime’s partners, creating opportunities for the mullahs’ dictatorship to “play games” is inexcusable and unforgivable.  The advocates of the appeasement policy, to this regards, should be held fully responsible.

But on the other hand, when you see the dreadful situation that the Iranian regime both internally and in the international scene is caught into, you will come to realize how badly the Iranian people and resistance have squashed this regime in between only two choices of death or suicide as the mullahs themselves have admitted.

The choice of committing suicide refers to Iran’s choice to back down peacefully, stop enrichment of uranium and come to sit at the negotiating table.  This would be a favorable choice for everyone but the mullahs.  They know that as soon as they take this path, there are a series of concessions that would have to be made one after another.  First they would have to come clear with the IAEA, but it will not stop there.  They would also have to renounce terrorism; stop supporting groups in the Middle East such as Hezbollah, stop meddling in Iraq giving up their dream of the Islamic Empire.

Defiant Iran insults new Human Rights Council

Saied Mortazavi

Mortazavi, was directly responsible for Zahra Kazimi’s death

Once again the mullahs’ regime deliberately insults the international community.  This time by sending some notorious anti-human rights characters among its delegation to the United Nations new Human Rights Council in Geneva.

One character, well known for his involvement in torture and killing of many Iranians is Saeed Mortazavi, the Prosecutor General of Tehran.

Mortazavi, was directly responsible for Zahra Kazimi’s death. An Iranian-Canadian-photojournalist, who was raped, tortured and killed by Mortazavi himself in the Evin prison in 2003.  Kazemi’s death received international attention as it created a serious rift in the relationship between Iran and Canada at the time.

"His presence at the Human Rights Council is really shocking. It is an insult to the victims of repression in Iran," Lynn Tehini, of the journalist’s rights group Reporters Without Borders, told AFP.

Talebani urges Iran to end meddling in Iraq

Stop Fundamentalism – The Los Angles Times reported on June 17 that Southern Iraq has fallen under the sway of Shiite militiamen and political parties with ties to Iran, and Sunnis fear that they are being targeted with the Shiite-dominated government’s apathy, if not approval.

"We don’t want to accuse anybody, but we really want to ask the government, ‘Where is your new security plan?’ ", said Sheik Abdul Baset Subaii, a Basra spokesman for the Muslim Scholars Assn., a Sunni Arab religious group.

President Jalal Talabani, an ethnic Kurd who maintains friendly ties with both the United States and Iran, acknowledged in a TV interview Friday evening that some Shiite militias continued to receive support from Tehran. But he said Iraq was no stranger to foreign influence.

What does West’s incentive package mean to Iran

Iran Incentive Package from WestWe have been very outspoken regarding what the outcome of giving incentives and more time as a result to Iranian regime on this website.  What one of regime’s state-controled dailies has commented about the incentive package is quite noteworthy.  We publish the translation of these comments below without any changes.

Kayhan daily, June 7, commentary — What Javier Solana offered as a package of concessions to Iran is so worthless that it does not even merit a study.

But, the mere trend of giving concessions to Iran is not all that bad. This is only the beginning; the westerners will be coming to Iran a lot more bringing more concesWsions….

There are times when Iran can cause a hundred percent insecurity for the West in the region. That is to create a situation where the West would not feel secure even one little bit. Or it can reduce the threat from hundred percent to 10 percent. This would mean 90 percent security to the West in the region. But this has a price to pay.

Stop Fundamentalism – Al-Jazeera TV reported on June 15 that a crowd of angry Iraqis attacked the Iranian consulates in two cities to call for an end to Tehran’s meddling in Iraq.

Al-Jazeera said, by attacking the Iranian consulates in Basra and Karbala, people in these cities expressed their outrage over mullahs’ interferences in their country.
