On Monday, November 21, day 67 of the Iran uprising, Kurdish cities bravely resisted regime attacks despite the IRGC’s massive military clampdown. Young people have already begun nightly protests in various parts of Tehran and other cities, and student demonstrations have continued in dozens of universities. Moreover, people in various cities turned the funerals of the martyrs into anti-government protests.
On Monday, the Iranian people continued their nationwide uprising for the 67th day, following the death of Mahsa Amini, a 22-year-old woman arrested by morality police in Tehran on September 13 for allegedly violating the country’s strict dress code for women. Protests erupted in response to the event, which has since spread to at least 243 cities.
Protests continue from Kurdistan, and Kermanshah to Marvdasht, Bushehr, and Bandar Abbas. Dozens were killed and wounded in Javanrud, and guards opened fire on people with heavy machine guns, another crime against humanity.
In support of the people of Mahabad on the 66th night of the uprising. On Sunday night, the sound of shootings could be heard from different parts of Mahabad. People in other cities demonstrated in support of Mahabad by lighting fires and setting up barricades in the streets in some cities. During the past two nights, the IRGC had a large presence in Bukan and Mahabad, and the sound of shootings could be heard in different parts of these cities.
Protests in Iran have now spread to at least 243 cities. According to sources from the People’s Mojahedin of Iran (PMOI/MEK), the regime’s forces have killed over 600 people and arrested over 30,000. The MEK has released the names of 466 protesters who were killed.
This declaration confirmed that the regime has declared a full-fledged war on the populace and increased public hostility toward the regime. In order to make a point about their demand for justice for crimes against humanity, defiant youth in some towns attacked the local offices of some of the statement’s signatories.
After nearly two months of the Iranian people’s national uprising, it is long past time for the international community to recognize the real possibility of regime change and begin acting accordingly. Western leaders have spoken out in support of the protesters. But, in general, those statements have fallen short of adequately endorsing the people’s movement for regime change or acknowledging their right to self-defense in the face of escalating state repression.
They gathered outside after the ceremony, chanting anti-regime slogans. To disperse the crowd of protesters, security forces used tear gas, pepper spray, and pellet guns. The NCRI Women’s Committee had previously reported on the arrest of this young, energetic artist during the October 26 protests in Tehran. According to social media reports, she was held in Evin for four days before being transferred to the notorious Qarchak Prison for another 11 days.
This movement is being referred to as a “revolution” by the Iranian people. As the ruling regime grows increasingly paranoid about the very real threat to its very existence, its media/lobbying apparatus has been busy demonizing the protesters as “foreign elements,” “seditionists,” “separatists,” and “terrorists” inside Iran, abroad, and on social media.
While the regime resorts to outright brutality against protesters, whether on the streets or in its prisons, certain figures with loud voices on social media and other platforms continue to express “concerns” about the Iranian revolution “turning violent.” They hide behind the ruse that resorting to violence in the face of the regime’s security forces opening fire will only encourage the mullahs to escalate the bloodshed.

The vast majority were shot with live ammunition, while others died as a result of blows to the head or torture while held captive.
Because the regime in Tehran has repeatedly demonstrated that it will not change from within, the international community must recognize the Iranian people’s right to defend themselves against the regime’s brutality and to secure their freedom. The West, in particular, should join them in their fight for Iranian freedom and regional peace and security.
However, what exactly does this mean?
We have arrived at a point where the international community can truly conclude that every possible path has been traveled during the past four decades of unprecedented appeasement toward this criminal regime that is holding the Iranian people, history, and culture hostage. All options have been exhausted, and Tehran’s rulers have not only squandered numerous opportunities provided by the West but have also responded with more belligerence.
