Belgium – Iranians and Europeans Warn of Looming Massacre in Iraq

Urgent and vigorous action should be taken by European Union nations and the United States to force the Iraqi government to cancel its 31 December deadline for the closure of Camp Ashraf, say prominent international figures.

Distinguished political figures from the EU and US are alarmed that Iraq, in its imposition of the stringent deadline, is determined to hamper efforts to relocate the residents, members of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran, outside Iraq.

The calls come as the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) warns that Iraq, at the behest of Iran, is preparing a new attack against the camp that could lead to another massacre. The information are based on Iranian Resistance sources inside Iran.

Iranian-Americans Rally – Delist MEK, Protect Camp Ashraf Residents

Stop Fundamentalism – Hundreds of Iranian-Americans gathered yesterday in Front of the White House in Washington to call on President Obama and Secretary Clinton to remove the Iranian main opposition movement, Mujahedin-e Khaql or MEK, from the US Foreign Terrorist Organizations’ list and also to help protect residents of Camp Ashraf in Iraq.

Former Secretary of Homeland Security, Tom ridge, former Pennsylvania Governor, Ed Rendell, and also daughter of Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Nontombi Tutu, spoke at the rally, on October 22.

Demonstrator were wearing yellow hats and waving yellow banners calling for protection of residents of Camp Ashraf where Iraqi government has set a deadline of end of the year to close the camp.  Iranian dissident fear the deadline would mean another assault on the camp and massacre may be looming.  Earlier this year, in April, 36 residents died after Iraqi forces raided the camp with live ammunition and armored vehicles.

French Aid to Iranian Police Force – Trained Police Dogs

Stop Fundamentalism – The French Television OWNI reported Wednesday on its website that the French police are aiding the Iranian police force by providing it with 20 trained police dogs.  This number is a partial shipment of the total of 52 trained dogs ordered by Iranian regime.

The dogs are sold to be used to fight against narcotics and drug smuggling, but surely they can serve other oppressive purposes including cracking down on Iranian protesters and dissidents.

A company named Civipol in consultation and cooperation with the French interior ministry is providing the dogs to the Iranian police, says OWNI.  The purchase is through Iranian Drug Control Headquarters which is an organ affiliated with the Iranian president.

Iranians Forbidden to Aid Foreign Radio and Television Broadcast Programs

Stop Fundamentalism – Head of Iranian Security Forces, Esmail Ahmadi-Moghaddam told reporters today that any aid to foreign broadcasting services such as BBC or VOA would be considered cooperation with the enemy and will be punishable the same way as working with security service of the enemy, said ISNA state-run news agency today.

The new measure is directed towards actors or actresses, documentary film-makers, reporters and journalists, and others.  Such activities will only be allowed by permission.

“Anyone interested to work with such networks, should obtain permission in advance,” Ahmadi-Moghaddam told ISNA.  “Foreign Farsi language network programs outside Iran are following different objectives and work according to the rules of the funding country,” he added.

Iran Working to Start Domestic IPTV

SF News – Iranian Communication ministry says it is determined to start a television channel broadcast over the internet based on IPTV technology within the next 4 years.  The service is expected to attract some 7 million domestic subscribers, says the Iranian Communication body.

IPTV is the technology that uses an internet broadband network and the Internet Protocol known as the TCP/IP as means to broadcast television programming.  The technology is already known in the west and is widely used specially with Video on Demand services.

Iranian television viewers are increasingly turning away from Iran’s state-sponsored programs to those originating from foreign countries.  Satellite television has had a great success in Iran and the theocratic rulers in that country are having a hard time collecting satellite dishes on top of buildings.  Watching satellite TV in Iran is forbidden and owning a satellite dish is punishable by law.

Iranian Cargo Boat Carrying Oil Industry equipment sinks in Persian Gulf

Stop Fundamentalism – Iranian cargo boat carrying Oil drilling equipment sinks in the Persian Gulf claiming at least 7 lives. Six others are reportedly trapped inside the boat under the water, 70 meters below the surface.

The incident took place yesterday and rescue efforts still continue as Iranian media reports indicate. There were 73 people on board the cargo boat from whom 60 have been rescued already and 7 have been confirmed dead. Rescue efforts to save the six trapped crew members continue at the moment.

Iranian reports say that the sinking has been due to technical issues but some sources more specifically described overloading to be the main cause of sinking. The boat sank just 15 miles away from its destination.

EU Sanctions Iran Five for Saudi Ambassador Terror Plot

 

Stop Fundamentalism – The European Union said Friday that it has imposed Sanctions on five individuals believed to have participated or are responsible for the murder plot of the Saudi Ambassador in Washington Last Tuesday, said AFP.

The United States and Great Britain had announced earlier this week that they have put sections on the individuals involved.  The sanctions include asset freeze.

One man by the name of Mansour Arbabsiar, a naturalized American citizen and a former used car salesman, is currently in US custody.  US say Arbabsiar has confessed and provided information about the plot.

Stop Fundamentalism – Iranian officials and media are now blaming the foiled assassination attempt to kill Saudi Arabian Washington Ambassador, to Iran’s main opposition group the Mujahedin-e Khalq, MEK. 

The Iranian authorities alleged that the second conspirator, Gholam Sakuri, who currently stays at large and believed to be in Iran, is an MEK affiliate.  Washington was quick to reject the allegation and stress that Shakuri is an officer of the Quds Force which is the foreign operations arm of the Iran’s IRGC.

Khamanei to Eliminate Post of President in Iran

Stop Fundamentalism – After many months of quarrel between Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamanei and his once very close president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad whom he supported during the popular protests in Iran after 2009 rigged elections, Khamanei gave hints today that it may be possible to eliminate the post of the president in the country.

Khamanei who was speaking to a crowed of university students and teachers, during his five day visit to the southwestern province of Kermanshah in Iran, stressed that the political system of Iran could change in the future to rely on parliament to choose the administrative branch of the country rather than having direct elections.

Saudi Arabia Reports Iran’s Conspiracy to UN Security Council

 

Stop Fundamentalism – Saudi Arabia is reporting Iran to the United Nation Security Council over its alleged plot to assassinate its Ambassador to Washington; A plot that was revealed by the US last week.  The move, at the minimum could lead to new series of sanctions against Iran.

Saudi Arabia’ permanent mission to United Nations said Saturday that it has formally requested that the UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon, would inform all members of the council about the “assassination plot” against its envoy to United States.

The United States also turned in a formal complaint to the UN Security Council Friday alleging the Iranian regime to plot and plan to kill Saudi Ambassador to US.  The Complaint was presented to Ban Ki-moon, Secretary General of the United Nations.
