On Friday 15th November, thousands of Iranians took to the streets in response to the regime’s announcement that fuel prices were going to dramatically increase. Since then, the protests have spread and it has turned into the most significant uprising in since the regime took power four decades ago. What started off as a protest for a specific economic issue evolved into (yet another) loud call for regime change.

The Iraqi people’s uprising is continuing to unprecedented levels, the highest religious figure in Iraq Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani called on the parliament to reconsider its support for the government, and the Iranian regime-linked Iraqi Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi has announced his resignation. 

All of this is very troubling for the mullahs in Iran, who have seen protests against their interference in Iraq and Lebanon for two months, and domestic protests against their regime as a whole for just over two weeks.

Reports from inside Iran indicate that protesters that have been arrested and detained during the current uprising that started on Friday 15th November are being subjected to torture. The detained protesters are being tortured into making false confessions.  

The opposition networks inside the country have been able to pass information across to its networks outside the country despite the massive internet shut down.

According to the sources affiliated with the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI), inside the country, the Iranian regime has reportedly killed more than 600 people during the uprising so far, wounded more than 4,000 and arrested more than 12,000. Besides, the regime is still maintaining the internet blackout in many areas.

The Quds city in western Tehran witnessed massive violent repression in the days of the uprising. After the price of gasoline went up, people took to the streets and started protesting. They rallied in front of the governorate. Meanwhile, Quds governor Leila Wasiqi said security forces had the permission to prevent people from entering the governorate
