The state-run News Agency, ROKNA, has just reported that the father of a political prisoner, Amir Hossein Moradi, only 26 years old, who has been sentenced to execution, has just committed suicide. This is believed to be due to the pressure exerted by the regime when he was told his son was to face the death penalty. This reason has been supported by both Amir’s lawyer and mother.
The Iranian regime’s hypocrisy is astounding. Petty thieves in the country are often sentenced to amputations, whereas the biggest thieves – the regime’s officials that plunder the nation’s wealth at the expense of the people – are rewarded with more riches.
The main opposition to the Iranian regime – the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI / MEK Iran) – has reported that more than 114,300 people have died in Iran after contracting COVID-19. The regime’s official death toll stands at just 26,567 – a mere fraction of the real figure.
Dissent is Iran is very much present. The people are angry with the regime for the situation they have been left in. The economy is in tatters and the regime’s management of the Coronavirus health crisis can only be described as a shambles.
The Iranian regime has been trying to develop nuclear weapons to help it survive. After the 1979 revolution, as soon as Iranians and the youth of the country started to object to the medieval system, the regime began seeking out nuclear weapons technology as an insurance policy against its probable overthrow. So far due to the gridlock, there has been no or little importing of nuclear weapons.
Empty food baskets appear to be more the norm in today’s Iran. But as this is becoming more commonplace the Iranian authorities are handing out skyrocketing loans to their relatives, so they can go out to dinner and dine on shark fin soup and imported expensive fruit.
The Iranian regime was scared by the recent activation of the snapback mechanism for the United Nations sanctions, but they are significantly more terrified by the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI / MEK Iran), who have been successful not just in mobilizing the Iranian people to rise up against the mullahs, but also in convincing the international community to hold the regime to account for its terrorism and nuclear ambitions.
