The Iranian regime is facing crises in a number of areas, in particular with regards to the country’s economy and social situation. The economy has declined over the past few years, contributing to the social crisis that is making life very difficult for many people across the country.

Dissent is high in Iran and the people have made it very clear that they do not want the corrupt and malign regime to remain in power. They are on a quest for their rights, including freedom and democracy, and they want an end to the decades of mismanagement that have resulted in the plundering of the nation’s wealth.

The Iranian regime, over the past few months, has been carrying out breaches of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) despite pleas from the European signatories (France, Germany and the United Kingdom) for it to reverse its actions.

Earlier this week, the Iranian regime acted again in yet another breach of the nuclear agreement. The head of Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization Ali Akbar Salehi told state media on Monday 4th November that the regime had put more advanced centrifuges into use. He said an additional 30 had been commissioned.

Iranian regime’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif defended himself in front of the regime’s parliament two weeks ago, saying that he always obeys the orders of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, bragging about how he is seen as the “chief apologist” of the regime across the world.

This title, which was not a compliment, was handed down by US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo when the US sanctioned Zarif because he was “complicit in the regime’s outlaw behavior”.

Iranian political prisoner Hassan Sadeghi has been banned from visiting his wife Fatemeh Mosanna, who is also a political prisoner because he refused to wear a prison uniform or have cuffs on his hands and feet during his transfer from Rajai Shahr Prison in Karaj.

This meant that Amin Vaziri, the presiding judicial official in Rajai Shahr Prison, ordered that the visit, the first in several months, be canceled. (Since being promoted, Vaziri has made it obligatory for prisoners to wear a uniform and hand and feet cuffs during transfers knowing that the political prisoners will resist.)

Freedom of speech and free press are indispensable pillars and the greatest guarantee of democracy. Dictatorships ban free journalistic activities, or they use the press to consolidate their power. But when the Western media serves tyranny, we should be alarmed for a serious threat to our democracy. Unfortunately, the approach of some Western media vis-à-vis the religious fascism in ruling in Iran is one of the bitter experiences.

These brave people are becoming symbols of perseverance and persistence in the fight for freedom in Iran, providing hope to a nation that wants to live in the light of democracy as opposed to the darkness that is the mullahs’ repressive regime.

Four decades ago, followers of the Supreme Leader of Iran and supporters of the revolution stormed the United States Embassy in Tehran. This incident turned into a hostage crisis that lasted 444 days.

Since then, the Iranian regime has continued to terrorise. It has terrorised foreigners and people at home. It has terrorised nations close to home and far away from home. And during the past four decades it has continued to unjustly hold people hostage.

The Iranian regime has carried out some of the most horrific crimes in recent history during the past few decades.

A lot of these have been war crimes exercised abroad, but many of these have also been terrible crimes against the people of Iran.

During the summer of 1988, more than 30,000 political prisoners were killed during what has become known as the 1988 massacre. The Supreme Leader at that time issued a fatwa ordering the execution of all political prisoners.

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) sanctioned Iran’s Armed Forces General Staff and nine individuals “who are appointees of or have acted for or on behalf of” Iranian regime Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

The sanctions seek to block funds from flowing to a shadow network of Ali Khamenei’s military and foreign affairs advisors who have for decades “oppressed the Iranian people, exported terrorism, and advanced destabilizing policies around the world.”
