Angry Iranians in the city of Andimeshk in the southern province of Khuzestan have taken to the streets and brought down a large billboard that was put up by the Iranian regime to honour the so-called “shrine defenders” that were killed in Syria while fighting on behalf of the Assad regime.

High-ranking Iranian Regime officials have been expressing their concerns over the increased activities of the Iranian opposition People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) Resistance Units in cities and towns across the country.

Ali Ghassemian, an expert of the Iranian regime’s inner circle, wrote in the state-run Vatane Emruz daily: “Today, the [PMOI/MEK] are attempting to make contact with our younger generation through social media platforms… They are guiding them to set billboards and signs on fire, hold images of [PMOI/MEK] while chanting against the state. They are calling this ‘Resistance Units’.”

The West has always maintained an appeasement policy with the Iranian regime, even when all evidence points to that policy emboldening the mullahs to commit acts of terror, abuse their own people, and create missiles capable of hitting Europe.

Instead of appeasing the mullahs or starting a war with them, which would not help matters either, the West should pursue a third option of supporting the Iranian Resistance, especially the exiled opposition group, the People’s Mujahedin Organisation of Iran (PMOI/MEK).
