In 2009, many people in Iran took to the streets in protest against the government. They were unhappy with their situation and wanted to do something to bring change to their country. However, in the absence of support and backing from the international community, the people of Iran were finally oppressed into ending the protests.

With the support of the current American president for the Iranian protestors and their plight, things have changed since the 2009 uprising in Iran. The current US president stands with the demonstrators in Iran and is expected to institute measures to assist and support the freedom-seeking protestors. Iran’s people there are intelligent and motivated — they love and desire freedom. Many can no longer tolerate their government’s suppression.

The White House has demanded the release of the Iranian demonstrators rounded up in the recent countrywide protests. In a statement issued on Wednesday it stated, “The Trump Administration is deeply concerned by reports that the Iranian regime has imprisoned thousands of Iranian citizens in the past week for engaging in peaceful protests.” It added that reports of some demonstrators being “tortured or killed… while in detention are even more disturbing,” and criticized Tehran’s “true brutal nature.” the statement said further, “The United States calls for the immediate release of all political prisoners in Iran, including the victims of the most recent crackdown.”

The ongoing protests in Iran are making the Iranian regime extremely concerned about its future. The country is in a state of chaos with the people calling out for an end to the rule of the corrupt regime. The people want freedom, democracy and human rights, and they are quite rightly very concerned about their future.

US President Donald Trump and numerous officials in his administration have said that they support the people of Iran who are continuing to protest against the corrupt government of their country. The uprisings are continuing almost two weeks later and there have been scores of people killed and thousands arrested.

The Iranian regime is under immense pressure right now as protests and anti-government demonstrations continue well into their second week. Since the start of the protests at the end of December, the Iranian regime has been blaming its enemies abroad for orchestrating the whole situation.

This is crucial for the people of Iran who were lacking international support in 2009 when another major uprising against the government was taking place.

Across Iran, millions of people are taking to the streets to voice their disdain with regards to the corrupt government that is ruling the country. Protesters are calling on the regime to leave Syria and to put the people of Iran first. The protests spread rapidly, showing the regime that the people’s anger is widespread.
