Rowan Scarborough wrote for The Washington Times about the changes in Iran since the nuclear deal was signed between Iran and several world powers. Dissidents who were able to escape the repressive clutches of the Iranian regime had hoped the nuclear deal would bring moderation to Iran. Yet, despite the billions of dollars in cash the United States had provided for Iran, and the release of frozen bank assets, the people of Iran have seen no change for the better. This is because the cash has been used to export terror in Iraq, Syria and elsewhere in the region.

On Saturday 26th November an event was held in Paris calling for the end of impunity to the Iranian regime who are responsible for horrendous crimes against humanity. The National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) have posted a timeline of the major event on their website. 

The President-elect of the NCRI, Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, was praised and commended for her tireless and determined efforts on behalf of the Iranian people. Mrs. Rajavi took to the stage and thanked all those who played a part in achieving freedom for the political prisoners who have now finally been relocated out of Camp Liberty in Iraq.

Shabnam Madadzadeh, 29, is an Iranian dissident who has quietly exposed the extreme brutality in Iranian prisons and has fled Iran to an undisclosed location in Europe. 

She had been imprisoned for the past six years for a five year sentence. Endangering her life, Madadzadeh, secretly sent letters from her cell about the inhumane prison conditions that she and other women were subjected to. She urged the United Nations’ UN Special Rapporteur on Human Rights in Iran to visit Raja’i Shahr and Gharchak prisons, where she had been held.

Heshmat Alavi wrote an article reflecting on the end of Hassan Rouhani’s term as president of Iran. He said that during the past four years much as happened. It started out with the West being quite positive about his election (rather selection) as president as it believed it would bring moderation to Iran. But the reality was a presidency that was far from moderate.

In an article by DW it has been reported that due to the worsening economic situation in Iran, parents are now resorting to selling their children. 

Shiva Nazar Ahari told DW that in Tehran almost anything can be bought on the streets – alcohol, drugs, sex and healthy kidneys. Now babies can be added to the list. She said: “It isn’t new that babies are sold on the street. It is on the rise, however. Desperate people aren’t only selling their organs, but also their kids.”
