On Thursday, a delegation of Italian lawmakers visited Ashraf 3 in Albania, the home of members of Iran’s principal opposition group, the People’s Mojahedin of Iran (PMOI/MEK), and met with Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the president-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI). The delegation was headed by Senator Giulio Terzi, a renowned Italian lawmaker and former Minister of Foreign Affairs.
Regime operatives in Iran have been blamed for a long series of chemical gas attacks targeting school children across the country. Reports suggest that hundreds of schools have been targeted and several hundred, if not thousands, of students have been hospitalized for poisoning and suffocation symptoms. These barbaric attacks have outraged parents and the public, causing a rise in anti-regime dissent and protests.
The protests, triggered by the death of Mahsa Amini, have been taking place since September 16, 2022, and have evolved into demands for human rights. The protests are not only taking place in the capital but rather in the entire country and are widely supported by the public.
Iranian citizens are outraged as schools in multiple cities have been targeted by poisonous gas attacks. All-girls schools have been the primary targets, with many students falling ill because of the attacks. Protests have erupted throughout the country, with parents and locals gathering outside Education Departments in various cities to demand answers and protection for their children.
Several members of the German Bundestag, along with a member of the Ukrainian Parliament, joined a rally of the Iranian German community in Munich on February 17 to express their solidarity with the Iranian people who are protesting for freedom, democracy, and human rights.
Amidst this, the regime’s leaders are trying to hide their role in this heinous crime by lying and creating conflicting scenarios. According to Zahra Sheikhi, the spokesperson of the Health Committee of the mullahs’ parliament, Majlis, on March 1, 800 students were poisoned in Qom and 400 in Borujerd.
This rapid devaluation is causing high inflation, unemployment, and reduced purchasing power, all of which could lead to social unrest. The Iranian parliament held an emergency meeting on Monday to discuss the financial crisis, attended by high-level officials, including the parliament’s speaker, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, and the central bank’s chief, Mohammad Reza Farzin.
During the meeting, both lawmakers reiterated their support for the Iranian opposition, particularly President-elect Maryam Rajavi of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), who was also present.
The United Nations (UN) Human Rights Council has commenced its 52nd session, which is tasked with promoting and protecting human rights around the world, and will address various human rights issues. High-level officials will deliver speeches during the opening session.
Saulignac emphasized the importance of understanding both the immediate and deep causes of the ongoing nationwide uprising in Iran.He stated that the movement, now in its fifth month, has been unprecedented in its scope and duration, with more than 280 cities participating. Despite the movement costing nearly 800 lives, including 63 children, the bloody repression has not stopped the protests.
