As state preparations for the death anniversary of former regime supreme leader Ruhollah Khomeini were underway, and the entire security apparatus was on high alert due to high tensions in all major Iranian cities, the Resistance Units, a network affiliated with the People’s Mojahedin of Iran (PMOI/MEK), launched a well-planned and simultaneous operation in several locations throughout Tehran.

On Wednesday night, May 25, a large crowd of locals in Abadan, southwest Iran, took to the streets in anti-regime protests sparked by the collapse of the city’s Metropol tower on Monday, May 23. Angry protesters chanted slogans against the regime, local officials, and the corrupt contractor who was responsible for the faulty construction project that resulted in the tower collapsing, killing at least 16 people, injuring 37 others, and leaving dozens more missing. According to state media, 34 of the injured have been evacuated and are recuperating at home.
The Iranian regime’s shocking record of carrying out death sentences was highlighted in a new Amnesty International (AI) report released on May 24, 2022. According to AI, Iran executed at least 314 people in 2019 (up from at least 246 in 2020), the highest number of executions since 2017, reversing a trend of year-on-year declines.

Following the recent meeting between Iranian regime Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and Qatari Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, as reported by Al Jazeera TV, the mullahs’ Foreign Ministry spokesman and state media quickly responded, denying any claims that Khamenei was willing to “compromise” on the Iran nuclear deal dossier.
According to reports from Iran, a state-affiliated journalist was detained for allegedly insulting the Friday prayer leader of Karaj, located west of Tehran.
