Last November, the people of Iran held an uprising that spread the whole way across the country. It was sparked by a massive hike in fuel prices, but it went much deeper than this one economic grievance.
The International Committee in Search of Justice (ISJ) recently wrote a letter to Javaid Rehman, the United Nations Special Rapporteur, about the situation of human rights in Iran. The letter spelled out the concern regarding the regime’s recent arrests in early May of a large number of youth and supporters of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) during the COVID-19 outbreak.
The gap between the rich and the poor in Iran is growing by the day, with the small number of citizens at the top benefitting from systematic corruption and the robbery of the Iranian people, while the 80% of Iranians who live under the poverty line see higher prices and less secure jobs due to the government’s economic failures.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani finally acknowledged on Saturday that cases of coronavirus in Iran are increasing – a complete turnabout from his previous comments – saying that Iran will “not return to normal circumstances any time soon”.
The Iranian regime knows it has mismanaged the Covid-19 pandemic from day one. But as the situation got worse but nothing was done all the regime could try to conceal its failure. They had the first cases in late January but refused to admit it.
The government statistics for Covid-19 deaths stood on Thursday, May 28th at just 7,627. The regime refuses to believe any other figures except its own and has even arrested anyone who has come up with the most reliable figures. The Iranian resistance (PMOI/MEK Iran) has refused to accept the lies about fatalities and has been bold enough to release the truth without the fear of arrest. It has been doing this for more than 3 months now.
There is no end to the draconian tactics used by the Iranian regime’s Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) when it comes to oppression, terrorism, corruption, and even smuggling. Now the regime, through the announcement by the IRGC Brigadier General, Alireza Tangsiri, has warned those who trade using dhows are not allowed to continue doing so and if they do, their vessels will be torched while out at sea.

One of the most recent news items being circulated at present is the tragic news of the death of the 13-year-old, Romina Ashrafi, who was beheaded by her flesh and blood father, with a sickle. It has been described as an “honor killing.”
Earlier this week, the new Parliament in Iran started working. It was the first public session and it can only be described as a disaster. Most of the country’s Parliament is now made up of members of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei’s faction after his rivals were eliminated, no matter how experienced or how loyal they had been.
Earlier this week, a press release from the United States administration announced that the sanctions waiver relating to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) would be terminated in 60 days.
