Donald Trump gave his address to the United Nations General Assembly in New York on Tuesday, with his speech focusing heavily on Iran and the malign behaviour of their Regime.
During the speech, Trump called the mullahs in Iran, one of the “greatest security threats facing peace-loving nations” and called on other countries not to “subsidize Iran’s bloodlust”.

Two Iranian Baha’i women have been sentenced to a total of 12 years in prison by the Revolutionary court of Kerman.
Kimia Mostafavi and Kiana Rezvani were each sentenced to five years in prison for their “membership in Baha’i community”, despite the Iranian Regime regularly claiming to Western governments that they respect religious freedom, and one year in prison for “spreading propaganda against the state in favour of opposition groups”.

On Monday 23 September 2019 an event was held at the United Nation’s headquarter in New York on “Religious Freedom”.
Religious freedom conditions in Iran has worsened in the past year. In an annual report in April 2019, the bi-partisan U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) designated Iran as one of 16 countries of particular concern and raised concerns over severe religious freedom abuses in Iran.

There are numerous hurdles that Iranian youth face when trying to access education, but women and girls face between two and three times the obstacles. There is perhaps a no better time to look at this sexist double standard in education than at the start of the new academic year when 15 million students will start classes but many cannot afford to enroll and many more cannot afford to go through until graduation.

At the beginning of the new school year, many people in Iran are renewing their calls for regime change, in particular, young Iranians who are determined to see great change in their country. They are reminding the people, and the regime, that schools and educations centers can act as places of defiance where people can promote freedom.

While Iranian regime president Hassan Rouhani visits the U.S. for the yearly UN General Assembly meeting, international organizations are raising concerns over ongoing violations of human rights in Iran.
On Thursday, September 19, 2019, The European Parliament adopted a resolution strongly condemning the Iranian regime for violations of women’s rights in Iran and the use of the death penalty, including its use against juvenile offenders; and called on the Iranian authorities to introduce an immediate moratorium as a fundamental step towards its abolition. EP also called on Iran to cooperate with the UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Iran, including by allowing him to enter the country.

On Monday, September 23, 2019, the new academic year of 2019-2020 begins in Iran with 15 million students going to school while more than 80% of the nation is living under the poverty line. It is estimated that seven million children are deprived of education and are child laborers.
