On Wednesday, Javaid Rehman, UN Special Rapporteur for human rights in Iran, told a General Assembly Human Rights committee, “I appeal to the Iranian authorities to abolish the practice of sentencing children to death, and to commute all death sentences issued against children in line with international law.”

It violates international law to execute juvenile convicts, and also contravenes the Convention of the Rights of the Child and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.

According to Rehman, during this year, five individuals who were convicted of committing murder as minors have been put to death in Iran.

Hejar has asked human rights organizations to address Iranian authorities’ restrictions on Alipour and his co-defendant’s visitations, extra-prison communications, and access to legal defense.

The US and six partner nations — Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) — comprise the The Terrorist Financing Targeting Center (TFTC) targeting the Taliban and its allies, as well as other extremists.

The TFTC has designated nine men who have undermined the Afghan government in a move intended to disrupt the relationship between Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and the Taliban.

Although the two sides were at odds in the late 1990s, since 2001, the IRGC and the Taliban have colluded against their common enemies in Afghanistan.

Next month, the next and final round of sanctions are set to take effect. The Iranian economy is set to take another hit when the toughest sanctions imposed by the United States are applied.

Earlier this year, President Trump announced that the United States was pulling out of the nuclear deal. He said that the agreement was not achieving what it was intended to achieve and he said that crippling economic sanctions would be reapplied.

The U.S. State Department then announced that it wants foreign countries to cut their imports of Iranian oil to zero. Despite some initial grumbling, most countries have decided it would be best to comply so that they don’t get caught in the crosshairs.

At the UN General Assembly last month, it was explained that Iran has a warehouse containing nuclear equipment and material; a revelation that came shortly after he produced an archive of files documenting the Regime’s illicit military nuclear research.

International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Yukiya Amano was urged to “inspect this atomic warehouse immediately”, before the Regime could hide/destroy the contents.

But the IAEA rejected his suggestion just one week later and this is far from the first time that they’ve failed to investigate possible Iranian violations discovered by Israeli intelligence.

Before the 1979 Islamic Revolution in Iran, Shiite Muslims, who make up about a fifth of all Muslims, were largely treated as inferiors in the Arab world. In most countries, they were forbidden to build mosques because the Sunni Muslim majority saw them as heretics. In certain countries, including Libya, Iraq and Saudi Arabia, they could be executed without trial.

Since this regime’s inception in 1979, its authorities in Iran have a history of endangering the lives of political prisoners by denying them adequate medical treatment and medication as a form of punishment.

This deliberate denial of access has endangered the lives of several political prisoners, including Majid Asadi, Arash Sadeqi, Hassan Sadeqi, Mohammad Banazadeh Amirkhizi and Mohammad Habibi, who are among those whose continued existence is threatened by denial of treatment. Their medical records have been destroyed rather than being transferred to the hospital or the prison clinic.

At the same time, truck drivers in the country are also participating in a strike. The truck driver strikes are now in their third week.
