Rising Anger Among Iranian People Leaves Mullahs Feeling Insecure

The prominent Iranian Regime’s Mullah, Naser Makarem Shirazi, has called on authorities to prevent “infiltrators” from entering Iran’s holy city of Qom.
A “special budget” was requested for the city by Shirazi, who is based in Qom, a few months ago. On Monday, he said that the government should give Qom attention over other cities in the country. Iranian media quoted him as saying in a meeting with the mayor of Qom on Monday, “The dignity of this city is the dignity of the Shiites, and its problems are also problems of the Shiite world.” Shirazi warned that the migration into the city is increasing and that this poses serious challenges to Qom.

Following the Brussels meeting on January 11th, Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs Boris Johnson said that he wanted to echo what German Foreign Minister Sigmar Gabriel and French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian had said earlier, specifically that, “It’s very important that as Europeans we come together to express a common view.” He stated that Europeans greatly value the JCPOA (the nuclear deal with Iran) and consider it a great diplomatic accomplishment, in that it stops Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.

Iran: 43 Charged in Kermanshah Province for Participation in Turn of the Year Protests

In Kermanshah, the capital of Kermanshah Province in western Iran, 43 people were charged for protesting in early January 2018.

On March 28th, Chief Prosecutor Mohammad Hossein Sadeghi told reporters that many of the protesters had acted “emotionally” and were influenced by social media when they expressed frustration with the country’s economic problems.

There has been much discussion and speculation about US President Donald Trump’s appointment of John Bolton as the new national security adviser (NSA). Many are concerned that the US will take military action against Iran.
Bolton has been a supporter of the Iranian opposition and its push for regime change for years and he has called for a more assertive policy towards Iran.

Iran Smuggling SAMs to Yemen, as Evidenced by Arab Coalition

The spokesman for the Saudi-led coalition announced during a March 26th briefing that Iran is smuggling Sayyad-2 surface-to-air missiles (SAMs) to Yemen’s Ansar Allah (Houthis) rebel group. An Iranian Sayyad-2 SAM that Saudi Arabia says was to be smuggled to Yemen’s rebels has been displayed as part of a presentation. This is clear evidence that Iranian weapons are turning up in Yemen. Colonel Turki al-Maliki displayed the missile, which was labelled as a Sayyad-2C. It was part of consignment that was intercepted in an intelligence operation before it could reach the rebels. It was missing its nose and fins.

Recently, Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei made remarks in his message for Nowruz, the Iranian New Year. He joined the demands of the people, especially the poor, for improved living standards during the widespread uprising at the turn of the year, to interference by western countries. He praised the activities of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard (IRGC) in the Middle East and blamed protesters for refusing to support it.

According to Proofpoint, the hackers previously attacked American and Israeli medical researchers, the Munich Security Conference, and a presidential campaign in the United States.

Numerous universities in Australia, including the Queensland University of Technology, the Australian National University, Monash University and the University of Sydney were targeted by phishing and spear-phishing campaigns.

EU proposal to sanction Iran

It has been reported that Germany, France and Great Britain have proposed sanctioning Iran for its ballistic missile activities and it could be as early as next month for them to be implemented.
The 28 ambassadors of the European Union met on Wednesday to discuss the proposal. If accepted, the sanctions could be applied on or before 16th April which is when the EU’s next foreign ministers’ meeting is due to take place.

Protests over drought rock Iran

A number of protests have broken out in Iran over droughts that have been exacerbated by the Regime’s mismanagement and now represent a pressing public health matter.
These protests – mainly in Isfahan and Khuzestan – form part of a much larger anti-regime movement that broke out across Iran in late 2017, which the Regime is trying to crack down on Earlier this month, dozens of farmers protested near Isfahan and accused the Regime of allowing to be diverted in exchange for bribes. Then riot police fired tear gas at them and were violent towards the farmers.
