Iranian Prisoner Disappears: Growing Concern

Several human rights organisations have expressed their concern over the whereabouts of Mr. Ali Moezzi, a 65-year old political prisoner. He is serving a prison sentence in Gohardasht Prison in the city of Karaj, west of the capital Tehran.

Moezzi had been a political prisoner during the eighties. In 2008 he was arrested and given two years in jail because he visited his daughters in Camp Ashraf in Iraq. He was re-arrested in 2011 and given a four year prison sentence. Despite being due to be released last month, he was given an extra year. He has numerous serious health conditions and has been repeatedly put in solitary confinement and tortured.

President Obama, instead of leaving the White House later this month with a legacy that has created a positive influence in the Middle East, he is leaving with the region in a state of conflict and destruction.

Obama has now just realised that the concessions given to Iran following the nuclear deal have not just endangered the Middle East, but they have also undermined American interests. Other countries (Turkey, Gulf States and Saudi Arabia) have made great efforts in trying to stop Iran’s interference in other countries, but Obama has made their efforts fruitless by reaching out to the regime time and time again.

Iran: Conflict Between Rouhani and the Judiciary of Iran Could Affect Next Election

The Judiciary of Iran and the Rouhani government are at odds over a case of robbery in the amount of 3 billion dollars. The conflict arose at the peak of public outcries over social disasters. 

Accusing the government of cheating, the first Deputy of the Judiciary requested that the financial resources of Rouhani’s campaign in the last presidential election be made public, reports the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI).

A young Iranian man, Arash Sadeghi, is currently serving a 19-year prison sentence for conspiracy and propaganda against the state – bogus charges that he denies. He had been arrested several times in the past too, with his parents providing bail each time. However since his arrest in October last year he has been behind bars.

It has been announced that the Iranian government’s plans for petroleum, gas, oil, transport, dams, water transfer, telecommunication and IT are assigned to a group affiliated with the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). The news was confirmed by Hossein Dehghan, the regime’s Minister of Defense.
