On Friday, 15th November, thousands of Iranians took to the streets in response to the regime’s announcement that fuel prices were going to dramatically increase. Since then, the protests have spread and turned into the most significant uprising in since the regime took power four decades ago. What started off as a protest for a specific economic issue evolved into (yet another) loud call for regime change. Following that, the regime had implemented a major blockage on internet services.

But when you look at the internal conditions of the Iranian regime, when you look at the recent uprisings on the streets of Iran in more than 190 cities with thousands of martyrs, you realize that the Iranian regime is in the midst of a new crisis.

However, this is already causing chaos within the regime, as various figures warn that this is a dangerous move that could cause “a shock more severe than the gasoline price hike”, which sparked nationwide protests last month.

The Rouhani government, however, has tried to cover this deficit with tax and fuel price hikes. Four rockets hit the Baghdad international airport on Sunday, according to US military officials who blamed Iran and its proxy forces. 

The rockets hit the Diplomatic Support Center building, which is located on the opposite side of the airport from the civilian runway and passenger terminal where US military personnel are located. A US official said the rockets landed between 100 and 400 yards away from American troops and civilians.

Eyewitnesses in Iraq report that armed members of the Iran-backed Katayeb Hezbollah militia group launched a vicious attack on protesters in Baghdad’s Tahrir Square on Friday, shooting round after round of live ammunition on peaceful demonstrators, killing at least 20 people at the scene and injuring 100 more.
