The US has given large exemptions to foreign governments, companies, and NGOs dealing with Iran’s Revolutionary Guards (IRGC), according to three current and three former US officials, so they will not automatically face sanctions, even though Washington designated the IRGC as a foreign terrorist group last week.

The US has taken a tough stance on the Iranian Regime ever since Donald Trump came to power in 2017.
This can be seen in the US withdrawal from the Iran nuclear deal (Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action) in 2018 and subsequent reimbursement of sanctions, as well as this month’s decision to place the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) on the US State Department’s List of Foreign Terrorist Organisations (FTOs).

Despite the almost complete defeat of ISIS, Christians and other religious minorities in Iraq and Syria are still facing persecution, but this time from Iran, according to the CEO of the Knights of Columbus.
Carl Anderson wrote in The Wall Street Journal that the religious minorities still live in “peril” because of the Iraqi government’s tolerance of the Iranian Regime’s influence. This means that many minority groups, who fled the country to escape ISIS just a few years ago are either staying away or fleeing again.

In terms of international norms and ethics, the Trump administration’s decision to designate Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist entity is certainly fitting, as the IRGC and its overseas operations unit, the Quds Force, are believed to be the primary terrorist agencies in the world today.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) was finally placed on the United States Foreign Terrorist Organizations List (FTO) where it belongs. This move, which was long overdue and heavily anticipated, was welcomed by the majority of Iranians and those in the Iranian diaspora because the IRGC is the tool that the Regime uses to crush any and all dissent.

Since before he even took office, U.S. President Donald Trump had vowed to crack down on terrorist activity around the world. Iran, as the main state sponsor of terrorism, has of course been one of his targets. Iran has been involved in terrorist activities across the world and Trump has been very outspoken about how the regime has got away with its belligerence without being held accountable.

The Tehran Chief of Police admitted that four people were arrested in Iran’s capital for “spreading rumours” about the Regime’s incompetence during the recent floods that have ravaged almost all of Iran, including Tehran, for the past 21 days.
Hossein Rahimi said: “All officials, including government officials and the armed forces, made great efforts during the floods, but unfortunately some people have destroyed their image.”

You can tell a lot about the competency of a government from the way it handles domestic crises, so the flash floods that have recently besieged Iran provide an opportunity to examine the competency of the Iranian Regime.
Since March 19, at least 26 of Iran’s 31 provinces, including roughly 1,900 cities and villages, have been hit with major flooding. The official death toll is 62, according to the head of the Iranian Legal Medicine Organization, who believes fatalities will keep rising, but locals are reporting upwards of 200 deaths. While about a third of Iran’s roads have been submerged in water, blocked by mudslides, or otherwise damaged in the floods, admitted Behnam Saeedi, a representative for the National Disaster Management Organization.
