The United States has warned other countries not to let Iranian oil tankers enter their territorial waters or ports to avoid violating US sanctions and risking untold economic or environmental damage.

The US reports that merely allowing Iran’s tankers into their waters may be seen to violate US sanctions, which could subject that country to fines or cut them off from the US financial market. However, they also warned that as US sanctions have cut off insurance for any such vessels, the country in question would be wholly liable for the cost of cleaning up after an accident, which could not only cost a lot of money, it could be especially damaging for the local environment.

US President Trump is making demands of the Iranian regime that it is unable to achieve. Hardliners see Iran’s nuclear program as an “insurance policy” against US surprises.

Trump also wants the revolution retired in a country that maintains its army and “guards” within its borders, destabilizing other countries and encircling them with rockets. Trump demands that Iran complies with the conditions of a natural state, and not use oil revenues and militias to restructure the territory.

Ahmadi’s husband Gholamreza Ghorbani said that Hakimeh is hospitalized at the Tabriz Army Hospital. Intelligence Ministry agents have demanded that he pay for her hospital treatment fees.

In an effort to facilitate Iran’s transition to a liberal democracy, reformists put their efforts into creating a formidable structure, including networks in the United States. They lobbied former President Obama’s White House, and portrayed their cause as the way to democracy in Iran, and themselves as the reasonable people with whom the Obama administration could negotiate.

Iran’s reformist faction portrayed themselves as “elected officials”, but this faction was hardly in agreement with the regime in its entirety.

The Trump administration has roundly condemned the Iranian Regime for its domestic repression, but it should take it to the next step and actually sanction human rights violators.

This would hold the Regime’s top officials accountable for their abuses, show solidarity with the Iranian people who are protesting for regime change, send a message to US allies about supporting the Iranian people rather than the mullahs, and fit in with the Trump doctrine of imposing sanctions against the Iranian Regime to push them into negotiating a new deal that addresses all of its malign behaviour.

The following is a brief overview of human rights abuses that took place in Iran between September 23 and October 22, using information gathered from activists on the ground. Unfortunately, due to the difficulties of ensuring a comprehensive assessment, the incidents included are believed to be just a fraction of the true extent of human rights abuses.

This report also talks of executions, child abuse, mass arrests, violation of freedom of expression, labour abuses, violation of prisoners’ rights, and unchecked environmental pollution, so it does not make for an easy read.

The HEPCO Company is the largest manufacturer of road construction machinery in the Middle East, and has been in business for the past 43 years. As the regime transfers large private industries and factories to its own authorities, the company’s production, which has a capacity of 3000 units, has dropped to 100 units. HEPCO’s predicament has been transferred to its employees, who have been protesting deteriorating working conditions and unpaid wages for several months.

Fifteen workers of the HEPCO construction company have now received a five-year suspended sentence, but must serve 1-2 years in prison and receive 74 lashes on charges “disrupting public order”. The sentence was handed down by Iran’s judiciary in Arak. This move was likely meant to intimidate the hundreds of protesting workers at HEPCO.
