Coal Mine Explosion Exploited by Iran’s Rouhani in an an Attempt to Gain Votes Before the Election

At least 35 miners were killed and another 25 others were injured in a major coal mine explosion struck northern Iran last Thursday.  Many required hospitalization after inhaling gas from the blast during rescue efforts. The explosion occurred in the Zemestanyurt mine, outside of Azadshahr.

In an interview with state run Tasnim news agency, Ramezan Bahrami, head of the regime’s Mining & Industry House in Golestan Province said, “Financial problems resulted in the lack of safety precautions in the coal mine. The workers themselves are reduced to negotiating for their own demands.” He said further that contributing factors for the high fatalities included lack of safety standards and inadequate emergency services in mining areas.

Revisiting the Trial of Oliver North and the Iran-Contra Affair of 1986

More than 30 years ago, it came to light that the US government had secretly supplied arms to Iran. It grew into a scandal when former Marine Corps Lieutenant Colonel and National Security Council aide Oliver North revealed, when questioned by former Attorney General, Mr Edwin Meese, that money from the Iran arms sales had been diverted to the Contras in Nicaragua who were supported by the U.S. to oppose the left-wing Sandinista government. It was part of an illicit effort to avoid the scrutiny of Congress that was first reported by a Lebanese newspaper.

First Sham Debate in Iran’s Sham Elections

The first of three debates in the Iranian presidential election campaign has been televised. The debate was “hopeless” and “boring” according to the television viewers who watched it.

The candidates participating in the debate are all current government officials and they made an effort to only speak about economic issues rather than political problems in the country.

Iran Nuclear Deal: The Two Choices

It was announced by the US last month that Iran is technically adhering to the terms of the 2015 nuclear deal. Every 90 days, the US must carry out a review and certify that the terms are being respected. This was the first one carried out by the Trump administration.

Secretary of State Rex Tillerson announced that although Iran is complying, there is a long list of actions that need to be addressed.

Iran’s Lies Are Fuelling the Syrian War

For years and years, Syrian allies – mainly Iran and Russia – have made excuses to keep Bashar al Assad in power and have used many tactics to shrug off the political pressure on them.

Allies would say that they were going to let Assad go as the President of Syria so that fighting could come to an end. But then they would say that they are waiting for his presidential term to be over so that the constitution is respected. But then, as everyone was patiently waiting, the 2014 elections happened and, surprise surprise, Assad was re-elected. Somehow.

Saudi Arabia Rules out Resumption of Relations With Iran

In a televised interview, Saudi Arabia’s Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman said that there could be no rapprochement between his country and Iran. Accusing Iran of fostering sectarian violence, Saudi Arabia’s defense minister stated, (they) “wish to dominate the Muslim world.”

The Deputy Crown Prince serves as the Saudi defense minister and oversees the government’s overhaul of its economy. In the TV interview on Tuesday, he said, “How can we get along with a regime which has an extremist ideology … and a profound wish to dominate the Muslim world and spread the Shiite faith?”

Iranian Authorities Reject Ms Zaghari-Ratcliffe’s Final Appeal

Ms. Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe is a 37 year-old British-Iranian charity worker who was detained by the Iranian regime’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) last year. She spent most of her time – a large period of which was before charges were filed – in solitary confinement.

Ms. Zaghari-Ratcliffe was travelling back to London where she lives after spending two weeks visiting her family in Tehran. Her baby, who was one year-old at the time, was with her when she was stopped by authorities at the check-in desk at the airport.

IRGC’S 38 Year Record: War, Crackdown, Exporting Terrorism & Fundamentalist, And Advancing The Nuclear Weapons Drive

On April 22nd marking the 38th founding anniversary of the Revolutionary Guards (IRGC), General Mohammad Bagheri, chairman of Iran’s armed forces command, said the IRGC “acted as the ‘security shield’ of the Iranian nation and all the Muslim people through their presence in Syria and Iraq.”

Victims of Iran Terrorist Attacks Are Compensated

Economic sanctions have been used as a way to bend the will of rogue governments. Sometimes they are effective and sometimes they are not.

However, one good thing to have come out of certain sanctions imposed on Iran is that a number of American families are receiving payments for being a victim of what has been considered by the US as a state-sponsored act of terrorism. The victims are those that have been injured, or the families of those killed, by acts of terrorism perpetrated by Iran.
